Inside the Stunning Collier Car Collection

Finally! Today we can share images from inside the exceptional Collier Collection now known as the Revs Institute. That’s because they are opening their doors to the public by reservation only.

For the last 20 years, this specular facility has been out of the public eye, including some of the world’s best preserved race cars.

The Collier Automotive Museum was built up from collection of Briggs Cunningham and has expanded to include the most important cars ever built.

Having viewed many of the cars at concours and racing in Monterey, we have always seen absolutely top work from The Revs Institute.

1970 Porsche 917-019 Kurzheck – The world’s only unrestored 917 Kurzheck chassis 917-019 still wearing the livery from its last race. That was the 1971 Grand Prix de Spa where Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep drove for the Martini Racing Team. Image by The Revs Institute.

Cunningham C4R and C4RK Coupe – The museum began as the Briggs Cunningham collection and naturally now includes some of the world’s best Cunninghams. In behind is the rare C4RK Coupe which is completely unrestored and has never left the facility. Image by The Revs Institute.

1935 Duesenberg SSJ LaGrande Roadster J563 – Sold new to actor Gary Cooper, this is only one of two short-wheel-base SJ Duesenbergs. It was originally part of the Briggs Cunningham collection. Image by The Revs Institute.

1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport – The Revs Institute’s historically significant 1963 Corvette Grand Sport, number four of only five made. The display car received the coveted John Fitch Corvette Excellence Award at the 2013 Monterey Motorsports Reunion and ran for three checkered flags on the track. Image by The Revs Institute.

1914 Mercedes 90HP Rennwagen – One of six team cars, and one of only three surviving cars, that gave Mercedes the first one-two-three sweep in the French Grand Prix history. Recently awarded the Most Historically Significant Mercedes-Benz by the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, the Revs Institute’s Grand Prix car will be returning to Lyon, France for the centenary anniversary of that historic race this April. 1950 OSCA MT4 – This OSCA MT4 has the distinction of winning the 1954 Sebring 12-Hours outright alongside the factory Lancia D24s, Ferrari 375 MMs, Jaguar XK120s, Aston Martin DB3s and a host of other larger cars. Image by The Revs Institute.

1939 Mercedes-Benz W154 – The very last Grand Prix car to be completed and raced by the legendary Daimler-Benz Rennabteilung before the war. In an ear-splitting momentous event in historic motor sports, the Collier Collections’ W154 ran alongside other rare examples of these amazing titans of racing machinery in the Silver Arrow display feature at the 2012 Goodwood Revival. 1913 Peugeot 3.0-liter Coupe de l’Auto – With engine refinements made for 1913, Peugeot was victorious. The event was the Indianapolis 500; the driver was Arthur Duray; the car, the one you will find in the Revs Gallery finished 2nd that year. Image by The Revs Institute.
