2010 RM Auctions Sporting Classics of Monaco-1

The inaugural Sporting Classics of Monaco auction, held at the Grimaldi Forum on 1st May, saw five automobiles fetch prices in excess of โ‚ฌ2,000,000 and two new world records get set. The eventโ€™s top seller was a rare 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Cabriolet Pininfarina SWB, s/n 3309 SA, setting a new world record for a Superamerica when it sold for โ‚ฌ2,800,000 ($3,799,600), well exceeding its high estimate of โ‚ฌ2,450,000.
A rare 1960 Maserati Tipo 61 โ€˜Birdcageโ€™, s/n 2470, also set a new world record for a Birdcage at โ‚ฌ2,464,000 ($3,343,648). The saleโ€™s cover car, the 1937 BMW 328 MM โ€˜Bรผgelfalteโ€™, s/n 85032, exchanged hands less than 24 hours of the saleโ€™s conclusion for a confidential sum and is not included in the final sale results.
