Auction Sales History
1927 Pierce-Arrow Series 36 Three-Passenger Doctor Coupe 361902 – sold for $66,000
This Doctor Coupe, as it was properly referred to, was formerly owned by noted collector Ed Oberhaus, for whom it was restored to award-winning standards from a very solid and complete original car in the early 1990s, a process documented by a large album of photography that accompanies the car. Its rich plum red finish is well-complemented by a lavishly appointed interior with bolstered red mohair upholstery and matching carpets, rich varnished wood window trim, a nicely wood grained dashboard, and bud vases on the door pillars. The driver and front passenger sit on cushioned bench seats that would look at home sitting before a lady’s vanity; the passenger seat folds forward and out of the way for easy access to the rear passenger seat, which holds one passenger alongside a built-in hat box! The rear windows are thoughtfully shaded by inertia-reel curtains.
