2009 Subaru Legacy B4 GT300
The SUPER GT series GT300-class machine being developed by R&D Sport (Atsugi city, Kanagawa prefecture. Representative: Mr. Shinji Motojima) uses as its base vehicle the Subaru Legacy and is set to make its debut in Round 6 of this year’s SUPER GT, the Suzuka 700km Race, with the team set-up and machine summary outlined here.
The redesigned GT300-class machine uses the latest model Legacy as its base and has been developed in accordance with the 2009 SUPER GT regulations as a pure racing machine. The power unit is a horizontally-opposed engine supplied by Fuji Heavy Industries and Subaru Tecnica International (STI), who control Subaru’s motorsports activities, and who were responsible for the development of the tuning and management system. The drivetrain is the Symmetrical AWD system that makes up the basic structure of any Subaru car, with R&D Sport, who has a wealth of experience, undertaking the production and assembly. The bodywork is painted predominantly silver and uses body components from the latest model Legacy, the car displaying a forcefulness that emphasizes the sport driving abilities of the Legacy. The tyres are supplied by the Yokohama Rubber Co., and motor oil from MOTUL is being used.
