Vintage Racecar’s European team will be out in full force at the 10th Race Retro, at Stoneleigh Park, near Coventry, Warwickshire, from the 22nd to the 24th of February. In deference of the show’s chosen marque, Lotus, the Vintage Racecar stand (E40 Hall 2) will be exhibiting the JPS Lotus 79 chassis #3 that Mario Andretti used to capture the 1978 Formula One World Championship (see this month’s profile). VR’s European Editor, Mike Jiggle, said, “I trust the legions of VR readers, both in the UK and Europe, will take time to visit us. We’re extremely grateful to Clive Chapman and his Classic Team Lotus organization for making this iconic car available to us.”
Billed as Europe’s premier Historic Motorsport Show, Race Retro will also feature the rallying success of the Alpine. Club Alpine Renault will be bringing to the show a number of vehicles and drivers synonymous with the marque. Special Guests at Race Retro will include Sir Stirling Moss (Sat.) and veteran broadcaster Murray Walker (Sat. and Sun.). The British Racing Mechanics will provide at least three historic Coventry Climax racing engines for display, and a GRD F3 car that they will strip and rebuild on the stand during the show. It’s a chance for people to get up close and even get their hands dirty as they see the build take shape.
