Vintage Racecar Trophy with BWRDC

Vintage Racecar and Historica Racewear, in association with the British Women Racing Drivers’ Club (BWRDC), have introduced the “Champion of Champions Trophy” for the 2013 season, In addition to the Trophy, the overall winner will receive a generous prize fund of £500 cash and £500 credit voucher from Historica.

The trophy honors the BWRDC driver who has finished highest in her particular discipline of motor sport, or racing series, and is judged to have shown outstanding qualities in achieving that place in a vehicle made prior to 2000. Drivers will be rewarded for their determination, courage and driving excellence, as well as their overall placing. The disciplines included are: race, rally, hillclimb and sprint.

Vintage Racecar’s European Editor, Mike Jiggle, said: “The BWRDC has made a significant contribution to motorsport over the past 50 years, and we at Vintage Racecar are committed to promoting the BWRDC with this new Trophy and within the pages of our magazine. We’re delighted to have teamed up with Perry Smith who owns the specialist vintage racewear company Historica. Perry is another lady who has proved successful in a male-dominated arena.”

BWRDC Chairman, Helen Bashford-Malkie added: “This is a brilliant opportunity to flag-up our drivers across several disciplines and a great start to the 2013 season! We are very grateful to Vintage Racecar and Historica for this prestigious Trophy and generous prize fund.”

A panel of judges composed of representatives from BWRDC, Vintage Racecar, Historica and an independent judge, will decide the champion from each discipline. The overall champion will be selected from these winners and announced at the BWRDC Annual Awards Presentation and Dinner in 2014.
