Video Review: McLaren 570GT

The 570GT is meant to be McLaren’s comfortable sports car. It adds extra comfort and practicality to breathtaking performance – aimed no doubt at Porsche 911 Turbo S buyers who like their creature comforts.

Every bit a McLaren, the company says it is optimised for the road and makes the perfect car for daily use, longer journeys and weekends away. Looks-wise, it has a cool glass hatch, the opening providing easy access to an extended storage area. The 570GT’s panoramic roof makes the roofline slightly taller than the standard 570S, and stretches back further to the rear to offer extra stowage, more headroom and more comfort for longer journeys.

It is a different kind of sports car to the ones McLaren has made up until now. Why? Because the 570GT is an out-and-out road car – an automobile that’s been designed specifically to be used every day on regular roads by regular drivers.

Steve Sutcliffe gets behind the wheel of the brand new 570GT. Let’s see what he thinks.
