Top Dollar Pontiacs from Mecum Auction
Today Dana Mecum sold some of the most desirable Pontiacs money can buy at his Original Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis. Take for example the Pontiac Tempest Super Duty that traded hands for $455,000 USD.
Three Pontiacs from Dana Mecum’s personal collection were on offer and they were all the most desirable of their kind. Along with the Coupe mentioned above, Dana offered a Station Wagon Super Duty which sold for just $5,000 less. Also included was a ‘Swiss Cheese’ Catalina that fetched a high bid of $475,000 and is still available. Both these models established Pontiac’s 1963 performance credentials and eventually led to the famous GTO.
Top sale of the weekend went to this Harley J. Earl custom-built Corvette that sold for $925,000 USD. Among all the Sting Rays this car has a singular historic pedigree and numerous unique features.
