A Path for Maserati
Maserati has been a troubled brand for some time now, but that all may change soon as the company has a new plan for the future that starts with a new supercar called the MC20. The MC20 will serve as the halo car for the brand and its other products will fall in line beneath it, according to Autocar.
Once the MC20 comes out, it will be followed by the Ghibli facelifted car. That facelift should be pretty extensive to bring the car up to the level of its competition. Following that, the Quattroporte and Levante will come, and then there will be a whole new model that should compete with the Porsche Macan.
According to Carscoops, the successor to the Granturismo and Grancabrio will be heavily influenced by the Alfieri concept, which was supposed to be greenlighted for production but got scrapped under new management, which preferred the MC20 design. It’s good to hear that the Alfieri concept’s design will be used in some way.
The MC20 will be the successor in many ways to the MC12 supercar that was based on the Ferrari Enzo. Power for the MC20 should be around 600 hp and it should have a partially electrified powertrain. An EV version of the car could come at a later date. While there are still many questions around the MC20, one thing is for sure, it will usher in a new era for Maserati. Let’s just hope it’s a good era.
