The McLaren Artura Art Car

I will be the first to admit some cars are pure art on wheels, automotive works of art, but there is a step up from that notion, actual art cars like the BMW Art Car Projects for instance, and it seems McLaren wants to go in that direction too with the unveiling of their new McLaren Artura Art Car in collaboration with British artist Nat Bowen.

A factory original, or MSO spec McLaren Artura would be a dream come true for many among us already, but having a one-off created by a leading British abstract artist as Nat Bowen sits on a completely different level, known for her vibrant, colorful artwork, this unique supercar boasts her signature artwork and is shown to the public during a long-anticipated exhibition taking place at the ME Dubai hotel between 24 February and 31 March.

Mohamed Fawzi, Market Director -Middle East & Africa, McLaren Automotive explains: “We are delighted to have collaborated with Nat Bowen to showcase the all-new McLaren Artura featuring her signature multi-layered artwork in the iconic surroundings of the ME Dubai. The exhibition received phenomenal reception from the attending guests and allowed us to successfully engage with the extremely passionate art community in Dubai and the rest of the Middle East region.”

The McLaren is a perfect showcase for both ‘art’ and ‘future’, hence the name Arturo, and this piece of art by Nat Bowen explores the use of Chromology, the psychology behind color, on the company’s first-ever high-performance hybrid supercar, the bodywork has been adorned with translucent resin pigment that adapts to the environment she’s shown in.

Nat Bowen herself mentions “It has been an honour to work with McLaren Automotive on this exciting concept and display it as part of my first solo exhibition in Dubai. My goal was to provide a truly immersive experience and transport the visitors into a meditative state away from everyday distraction, as well as allow them to further explore and develop their relationship with colour”.

The McLaren Artura has been created from the ground up as a completely new car for McLaren, the next chapter in lightweight supercars with fast throttle response and low emissions because the Artura can run in pure EV mode thanks to her electric powertrain, the McLaren Artura is the car of the future for the new era we are all going to, hybrid supercars first, followed by all-electric hypercars next, the automotive world is changing, and if this Artura is anything to go by, the future sure looks bright.
