The Maserati MC20 Leaks Ahead of Reveal

The Mid-Engine Maserati Looks Good

The reveal of the Maserati MC20 was supposed to happen tomorrow, but some images of the car leaked out today. Shared by multiple outlets, the images show a seriously cool mid-engine supercar that has doors that open upwards, carbon fiber, and some beautiful curves.

The design is fairly derivative, but it still manages to feel pretty modern Maserati. The car has the trident logo upfront, some cool hood vents, curvy fenders, and some lights that actually remind me of Jaguar’s F-type—though the Jag isn’t mid-engined. It’s not a bad looking design, but there are more beautiful cars out there. With that said, the MC20 is a big deal. Maserati needs a good mid-engine halo car, and this one will do.

The car features a twin-turbo V6 engine with a displacement of three liters. According to The Drive, it will also some fancy engine tech like a twin-spark-plug pre-chamber combustion system. The engine should be good for a 621 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque. If it’s anything like previous Maserati cars, the MC20 will have an orgasmic exhaust note.

There’s a hybrid version of the car in the works that should make even more power and be more impressive in terms of performance, but honestly, 621 hp sounds like quite a lot. It will be interesting to see the full reveal tomorrow. We will have more when Maserati shares it with the world.
