Yep, Jag Did It Again
The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 has done it again. It beat the Nürburgring lap time record for sedans. The car managed to slam down a time of 7 minutes and 18.3 seconds, making it a seriously fast lap time, one that’s 2.9 seconds faster than the previous record from 2017. The previous record was also set by Jaguar.
According to EVO Magazine, the next closest thing to Jag’s superfast XE is the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S 4-Door. Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations Engineering Director Jamal Hameedi said the new record is a fitting reward for all the people who worked on the car. He also said the following:
The original Nürburgring time set by Jaguar XE SV Project 8 demonstrated the extreme performance envelope of the world’s fastest production sedan, but the SV team is driven by a motorsport mentality and we knew Project 8 could go even faster.
Racing driver Vincent Radermecker was the man behind the wheel of the car. The car itself features a 5.0-liter supercharged V8. That engine in the XE SV Project 8 makes a strong 592 hp. Pair that with variable adaptive suspension and all sorts of aerodynamic goodies, and you have one of the fastest sedans you can imagine. You can watch the lap below.
