A Sad Day for Automobile Lovers
One of the most looked forward to and famous motoring events of the year has been postponed. In a press release on its website, the Concorso D’Eleganza Villa D’Este organizers announced that the event would be postponed until October 16th. The event is set to take place from October 16 to 18 instead of its originally scheduled May 22 to 24 date.
It is smart for the event organizers to move the event. Italy is still going through a lot with the COVID-19 outbreak and the event will take place at Lake Como, Italy. The press release stated the following: “In light of current events and growing measures to contain the coronavirus, not to mention our duty of care towards our guests and staff, it is with a heavy heart that the Organisation Team of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este has decided not to proceed with this year’s edition on the planned dates.”
The release goes on to say that the team of the event is monitoring new developments and will plan accordingly. If the virus miraculously clears up in April, then the organizers may decide to still hold the event in May. However, I’d assume that many folks have already canceled their travel and would likely not attend if the event were to happen in May. An October date is probably the better choice for it.
