Big Fun, Little Package
The Abarth brand is celebrating its 70th anniversary. FCA wanted to celebrate this fact, so the company built a special edition model that’s called the Abarth 695 70° Anniversario. The limited-run car was presented in Milan at the 2019 Abarth Days, according to EVO.
Only 1,949 units will be built. That’s the year that Carlo Abarth founded the company. The vehicle is certainly special with a new manually adjustable roof spoiler. The spoiler is said to impact grip and stability, specifically at high speeds. It offers up 12 different positions from zero to 60 degrees. When in its most aggressive position the soiler is supposed to add 92.6 pounds of load at 124 mph.
Additionally, the car features the Monza 1958 green livery, quad exhaust tips with the Record Monza active exhaust system. There are also gray exterior accents low on the bodywork, badging, and up by the roof. The car rolls on some 17-inch SuperSport alloy wheels. Stopping power comes from some red Brembo calipers and 305-mm discs upfront and 240-mm discs in the rear.
The Abarth 695 70° Anniversario features the most powerful engine ever stuffed into the new 500. FCA put in a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 177 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. It should be a riot of a hot hatch to drive, and it can make 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph. Not exactly melt your face fast, but certainly quick enough to be fun.
