The week of January 13 kicked off the annual bacchanalia of classic car sales that is the collective “Scottsdale Auctions.” This year, the same six auction houses returned to the Valley of the Sun, with a mixture of results compared to last year.
Overall, total sales, across all the auction companies increased to a staggering $248.6 million, with some 2,321 vehicles selling, out of a total of 2,815 on offer. Specific results for each auction house were as follows:
Barrett-Jackson– Perennial juggernaut Barrett-Jackson’s total sales slipped by a little over 1 percent over the previous year’s sale, though their 2014 result was still an impressive $107.8 million (compared to $109 million in 2013) and the highest total of all Scottsdale auctions, with 1,381 of 1,388 vehicles selling. Top sale at Barrett-Jackson came in the form of the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette #57 Rebel L88 racecar, which sold for $3,850,000.
