1983 Nissan Skyline GTS-R

Russo & Steele

Scottsdale, Arizona

January 18-22, 2012

Compared to 2011, Russo & Steele had fewer cars passing under the Big Top (655 compared to 984) but saw essentially the same money across the block with more than $19 million bid through the “auction in the round” format for which the high-energy auction is known. A pair of Corvettes brought more than $1 million with an L-88 Roadster sold at a world-record price of $687,500 and a 1953 edition crossing the block at $467,500. Although another worldwide high was passed with $429,000 for a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC, the most impressive result may have been the 1978 Fiat 124 Spyder (with rubber bumpers no less!) which sold at $25,300 in what surely must portend something sinister.
