RM Sotheby’s Monterey Auction Preview – Some Tasty Treats Go Under the Hammer

2016 RM Sotheby’s Monterey Sale Preview

An institution for more than 25 years, RM Sotheby’s flagship Monterey sale, held during the world-famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance week, continues to raise the bar for collector car auctions year after year, commanding the attention of the world’s most discerning collectors. Held in beautiful Monterey during the famed Monterey Car Week the event has been witness to the sale of some of the most important motor cars to ever come to auction.

RM Sotheby’s 2015 Monterey sale was a resounding success, achieving a remarkable $172.9 million in auction and post-auction private sales. Setting a new record for the highest-grossing collector car auction of all time, the three-day sale established multiple auction benchmarks and saw a tremendous 36 lots achieve individual million-dollar-plus results.

This year there are some tasty classics that will go under the hammer. Here’s the official site for those who have way too much money.

The prancing horse is prominent with three Ferrari Daytonas and a couple of Ferrari Spider’s and a perfect Ferrari F40. A 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta and the other a 2005 Ferrari 575 Superamerica are also on the block.

There are a smattering of Mustangs available for sale and a LeMans 1955 Jaguar D-Type that’s going to go for $15MM+. Also linked to Le Mans is a pair of GT40s. One, chassis P/1057, is a mark 1 road car in red while chassis P/1061 is another mk1 road car and historic event regular.

Definitely check out the site today (the auction starts tomorrow). The 2016 RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale takes place at the Portola Hotel & Spa in Monterey, California, on August 19-20.
