Wally Thomason pays tribute to the young Mexican’s brilliant, but all-too-short career.

Younger brother of Pedro, the fiery Mexican was his country’s motorcycle champion at age 15, graduated to sports cars at 16 and was a Ferrari F1 driver at 19. My favorite vignette of the Rodriguez brothers was the Targa Florio, in 1960 I think, between them, they’d rolled their 196 Dino more than once. The Ferrari was a muddy, wretched looking mess – aluminum and plexiglass pointed every which way – and they still came through to finish seventh overall!
