Automotive Art – Nicolas Hunziker’s “Reliable Transport”

The Brabham BT24 was one of three cars that contested the 1967 Formula One racing season for the Brabham-Repco team. The Brabhams were not the quickest, but they did prove to be the most reliable cars of the season. From 22 race starts, the formidable pairing of Jack Brabham and Denny Hulme scored three race wins and suffered only four retirements. By comparison, Jim Clark, driving the new Cosworth DFV-powered Lotus 49, posted five race wins but failed to finish five times. Consistency proved to be the key, as the Brabham-Repco team comfortably captured both the Drivers’ (Hulme) and Constructors’ championships.
