Putting the McMurtry Spéirling Pure to the Test on a Racetrack

The McMurtry Spéirling, a groundbreaking electric hypercar, made waves in 2022 by shattering the Goodwood Hill Climb record. Driven by former Formula 1 driver Max Chilton, the Spéirling set a new benchmark with a stunning time of 39.08 seconds. This achievement cemented its status as one of the fastest road-legal cars globally.

In response to the overwhelming demand, McMurtry Automotive unveiled the production version of the Spéirling, dubbed the Pure. Limited to only 100 units, the Spéirling Pure is a single-seater powerhouse equipped with a 1,000 horsepower powertrain.

A prominent feature of the car is the massive fan at the rear, designed to produce substantial ground effect and spin up to 23,000 rpm. The engineers behind the Spéirling claim that this system can generate an astonishing 2,000 kilograms of downforce, against a body weighing just 1,000 kilos.

Recently, the team at Top Gear magazine had the opportunity to put the revolutionary Spéirling Pure to the test on a racetrack. Their driving experience and insights will undoubtedly provide valuable information about this extraordinary electric hypercar.
