24:16 Le Mans 24 Hours : 16 wins with Porsche

By Norbert Singer, with Michael Cotton

Coterie Press’s “24:16” is, essentially, an autobiography of Porsche engineer Norbert Singer, in that his personal story is effectively the story of Porsche’s unprecedented 16 victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Singer started with Porsche, fresh out of University, and was tasked with the project of cooling the gearboxes on the mighty 917s. From there Singer went on to developing the 911 into an international racecar, resulting in the development of the famed 935, which scored countless victories and an overall win at Le Mans in 1979. From there, Singer’s story (and Porsche’s) moves on to the 956/962, the WSC open sports car and the GT1 project which chalked up Porsche’s 16th victory at Le Mans in 1998.

Written from Singer’s perspective, as a memoir, with lots of insider perspective on 30-plus years of Porsche racecars and drivers, this book provides a fascinating look inside what is arguably the world’s most dominant endurance racing team.
