A three-day “fun fest” known as the Ford-Cobra-Shelby Reunion will take place at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona, California, April 19–21. Highlighting the Reunion will be an exhibit honoring the 50th Anniversary of the Cobra and a weekend of related events centered at the Museum. All Ford and Ford-powered vehicles, including all Shelby vehicles, GT40s and GTs will be welcome.
“We’ve wanted to celebrate the Cobra for a number of years,” said the museum’s executive director Tony Thacker. “The first car was assembled right here in So-Cal at Dean Moon’s shop in Santa Fe Springs.”
The weekend’s list of activities is still being developed but will include: a Cobra 50th Anniversary Exhibit; a banquet honoring Carroll Shelby; a panel discussion; the annual Fabulous Fords Forever; and three days of open track action on the vintage Pomona Road Race course used from 1956–’63.
Mid America Ford and Shelby Nationals will sponsor the Open Track portion of the Reunion. Mid America has been organizing Shelby-focused events since 1974 and track events since 1977. The historic Pomona Road Race Course will represent a step back in time as it has remained the same since the last race in 1963. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Parks Museum and the Carroll Shelby Foundation.
