Parker JohnstoneÕs personal Acura Spice is the very car he drove to a record number of GTP Lights poles and wins in 1991-92. Originally a 1988 model powered by an ÒIron DukeÓ Pontiac, it crashed and burned in Õ89. Honda bought it and installed a 3.0 V6 from the then-new Acura NSX. This Òtest muleÓ promptly won the Õ91 Rolex 24 at Daytona. ÒWe could run as hard in the race as we did during qualifying,Ó explains Parker. ÒEverybody else, the Ferraris and Pontiacs and Buicks, had to bring the revs back substantially.Ó Photo: Pete Lyons
