The McLaren Senna pays tribute to the legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna, who drove for McLaren from 1988 to 1993, securing three World Championships and four Constructors’ titles. The car was first revealed in 2017, followed by its public debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
Alongside the road car, McLaren also introduced a track-only Senna GTR concept, which took the aggressive design of the road car and pushed it even further with enormous diffusers, stripped interiors, and a fire suppression system. When the GTR was released to the public in 2020, McLaren described it as the fastest and most capable car they’ve ever built at the time.
For those desiring even greater exclusivity, McLaren’s Special Operations division produced the Senna GTR LM. Only five units were built, each sporting a unique livery inspired by the five McLaren F1 GTR cars that competed in the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the team secured an impressive finish of 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 13th.
One of these ultra-rare cars is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s with an estimated value of $2.1 to $2.6 million. It honors the F1 GTR chassis 06R, which finished third in the 1995 race. This particular Senna GTR LM features the iconic yellow and green Harrods livery and meticulously replicates the 06R driven by Andy Wallace, Derek Bell, and Justin Bell.
The GTR LM is equipped with a more powerful twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 833 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, with a redline increased to 9,000 rpm, all packed into a lightweight 1,188 kg body. It features matte dark graphite OZ Racing wheels, gold-painted brake calipers, and a twin-exit Inconel exhaust system.
Inside, the race-focused cockpit includes FIA-approved carbon fiber bucket seats with six-point harnesses, titanium nitride pedals, and a steering wheel with anodized gold controls. Unique to this car, the interior bears dedications to the original 06R car and signatures from Derek Bell and Bruno Senna.
This car, offered by its original owner, has clocked just 1,003 kilometers since new and comes with a spare Senna GTR engine and a set of wet-weather wheels and tires. It has been displayed at prestigious automotive events such as Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace in 2020 and 2023.
