The Regera, revealed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, was Koenigsegg’s first hybrid vehicle, designed as a touring-focused counterpart to the Agera. It featured the company’s hallmark pre-impregnated carbon-fiber and aluminum honeycomb monocoque structure and introduced the Koenigsegg Direct Drive (KDD) transmission to reduce the weight and energy losses typical of hybrid systems.
Powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine paired with three electric motors, it produced a combined 1,500 horsepower. In 2019, a Regera set a record by completing a 0-400-0 km/h run in 31.49 seconds at Sweden’s Råda military airfield.
This particular Regera is one of only 85 built. It boasts $501,330 in custom options, including extensive use of real gold leaf and dust. Highlights include a $170,000 Clear Carbon finish, $57,000 Tresex AirCore wheels, and a $62,000 Dark Carbon strip accented with gold dust. The vehicle also features gold leaf striping and 24K gold-plated exterior logos and furnishings. Inside, it has a Desiato Alcantara interior with carbon and gold accents.
The car has been meticulously maintained, with services from McLaren of Newport Beach and Bentley of Las Vegas, and a full protective paint film applied in 2021. In spring 2024, it underwent a third-year service, including updates, at a cost of nearly $19,000, which involved flying in a technician from Sweden.
This Regera is in excellent condition and is offered for sale with just 1,512 miles since new. It will be available for bidding at RM Sotheby’s 2024 Monterey auction event which runs from August 15-17 and is expected to sell for as much as $3,250,000!
