Old Classic Car—Collecting Automobilia

It’s hard to know where to start with this month’s featured Web site! What initially caught our eye was a surprisingly thorough section on all the various types of collectible automobilia. However, in addition, this site has an almost bewildering assortment of articles and sections devoted to virtually any aspect of buying, owning, driving and maintaining classic cars. Some sections are more useful than others, but there is a tremendous amount of material here.

Focusing on automobilia, if you scroll down the overly crowded and confused home page toward the bottom, you’ll find a section entitled “Other Unusual Transportation Things to Collect.” Under this heading are 17 subsections covering such topics as collecting: magazines; trading cards; children’s car books; motoring humor; motoring records, road maps, road signs, books and literature; toy cars; pedal cars; and much more.

While the structure and overall organization of the site is somewhat amateurish, by current standards, this is one of the few sites that provides a truly broad overview and analysis of the full spectrum of automobilia that one could collect. If you’re interested in collecting, it’s worth a look.
