Without doubt, the Monza Autodrome with its famed banking, ranks as one of the world’s most historically significant racing circuits. Therefore, it should perhaps be no surprise that the circuit has a very nicely constructed Web site devoted not only to its current endeavors, but also its rich history as well.
Built in 1922, the first brick was laid by Vincenzo Lancia and Felice Nazzaro in February, yet the track was completed an astounding 110 days later, in time for a voiturette race on September 3rd. Since then the track has hosted everything from Formula One and F2 to sports cars and motorcycles. Numerous champions have been crowned and numerous champions lost on this famous piece of Italian tarmac.
This month’s featured Web site is the official site for the track and includes an extensive history with photographs, as well as a virtual tour of the track facilities. Other features include photo galleries from current events (everything from F1 to historics!), current news (both for the track and F1), track maps and a guide for hotels, camping and local restaurant information. With both English and Italian versions, this site provides a wealth of interesting information.
