Michael Schumacher’s 1996 Ferrari F355 GTS Up for Grabs

Previously owned by seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher

This 1996 Ferrari F355 GTS, up for grabs at RM Sotheby’s, is a rare and highly coveted model with an intriguing connection to Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher.

Previously owned by the seven-time World Champion, this car was part of his collection during his early years with Ferrari, beginning in 1996. The F355 GTS, finished in the stunning Blu Le Man’s color over Pelle Crema leather, was personally configured by Schumacher and is equipped with the sought-after six-speed manual gearbox, offering a unique contrast to his Formula 1 car.

Delivered in April 1996 to Weber Management GmbH, Schumacher’s management company, the car was initially serviced in Monaco just before the 1996 Monaco Grand Prix. The F355 GTS was documented in various publications such as Forza, Ferrari World, and Auto Trends, with photographs of Schumacher driving it in Monaco, further adding to its legendary status. The car remained with Schumacher’s management until at least 1997. It was later sold to various owners, with the current owner acquiring it at auction in 2004 during the Monaco Historic Grand Prix.

Since its acquisition, the car has been regularly driven and maintained, winning “Best of Show” at Spa Italia in 2017. It has been featured in several automotive magazines and remains a beloved piece of Ferrari’s history. The F355 GTS was Ferrari Classiche certified in 2020, confirming it retains its original chassis, body, and color combination, though it is no longer equipped with its original engine. Despite the engine change, the car’s overall authenticity and connection to Schumacher make it a highly desirable collector’s item.

The car has been meticulously maintained, with just under 47,500 km on the odometer, including a recent primary service in 2024. This F355 GTS is not just an exceptional Ferrari but also a piece of motorsport history, offering a unique opportunity for any enthusiast to own a car linked to one of the most significant drivers in Formula 1.
