McMurtry Speirling PURE Debuts at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Remember, the McMurtry Spéirling that blitzed the infamous 1.16-mile (1.87 km) Hill Climb in an astonishing 39.08 seconds, setting a new record in the process? There’s a new and much improved version of it and it’s called Spéirling Pure.

It’s still an electric car, a single-seater with a dual-fan system underneath, and a skirt that drops down to suction it onto the tarmac. It weighs under 1,000 kg, boasts 1,000 horsepower, two electric motors, rear-wheel drive, and can go 0 to 60 in under 1.5 seconds, covering a quarter-mile in under eight seconds. T

he downforce is instantly available from a standstill due to the fan system. The Pure introduces changes like an increased top speed of 190 mph, a redesigned downforce system, larger tires, and improvements to the battery technology.

The battery remains 60 kilowatt-hours, but with NextGen Molly Cell lithium iron cells, offering 20% less heat generation under full power and 30% quicker charging. The car is optimized for efficiency, aiming for 10 laps of the Silverstone national circuit at lap record pace before a 20-minute pit stop for charging.
