McLaren Will Build a GT4-based 620R Model

Basically a Road-Legal Track Car

Recent reports indicate that McLaren will take its Sports Series range to a new level with the 620R. The car, according to PistonHeads, that McLaren will build is the 620R as a road-going GT4 car, similar to the 570S GT4 (shown above). The 620R will be based on the 600LT and it’ll take that car even further from a high-performance standpoint than ever before.

The car will get a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 and that should put the horsepower somewhere around 612 hp. That’s up from the 600LT’s 5912 hp. In addition to the boost in power, the car will also get a new front splitter, and a host of aerodynamic adjustments to the corners, hood, and sill extensions. The car will also come with a large rear wing. The exhaust has also been rerouted to a lower position to either side of the rear diffuser.

According to PistonHeads, the 620R could get the GT4’s coilover springs, adjustable dampers, and a wider track. There’s also a roof-mounted intake. Inside,  you can bet it’ll be pretty bare-bones racer. The person who first reached out to PistonHeads showcased some photos and said the car will be an invite-only kind of affair. The car will likely cost over $200,000.
