McLaren 750S Spider: Robb Report’s 2025 Car of the Year

Open-top driving experience is sensory overload

The McLaren 750S Spider has been named Robb Report’s 2025 Car of the Year. Besting 10 competitors during a five-day-long competition in Boca Raton, Florida, the 750S Spider was praised for its “amazing acceleration, wicked handling, ear-crackling sound, and head-turning good looks.”

“McLaren has been a frequent frontrunner in our annual contest, and it’s a testament to the marque’s commitment to supercar development and its embodiment of the segment that we had two of its models as contenders for this edition. The 750S Spider eschews compromise and performs beyond expectations across all metrics, similarities it shares with our Robb Report reader.” Luke Bahrenburg, President of Robb Report

Unique to Robb Report is its judges panel, which is made up of both automotive editorial staff, as well as members of the Robb Report private club, RR1—individuals who may already own McLarens, or have the means to purchase one. “We are thrilled that Robb Report has named the 750S Spider its 2025 Car of the Year. With the 750S, we have beaten our own remarkable benchmarks, and to have that recognized by a panel of judges made up of customers and prospects makes this award extremely meaningful. One of the judges noted, ‘If you’re looking for a supercar, you’re done—this is it!’ We certainly agree.” Nicolas Brown, President, McLaren, Americas

The 750S Spider the lightest and most powerful series-production McLaren, featuring a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 petrol engine producing 740bhp and 590lb ft, as well as a 7-speed transmission with ratios optimized for acceleration. The newest generation of McLaren’s acclaimed linked-hydraulic suspension—PCC III debuted on the 750S and delivers even greater agility, feel and feedback, while McLaren’s renowned steering with electro-hydraulic assistance is even sharper, with a faster steering ratio. The center-exit exhaust inspired by the McLaren P1™ delivers a distinctive crescendo, while the exterior is distinguished by an extended front splitter and lengthened carbon fiber active rear wing.
