McDonough Receives Guild Award

Ed McDonough, VR Editor at Large, has been awarded the Peugeot Motorsports Cup by the Guild of Motoring Writers. McDonough was recently presented the Cup by Andrew Didlick, the French automaker’s public relations director.

Peugeot is now the title supporter of the award, which for many years was known as the Rootes Gold Cup and previously presented to the Guild member with a considerable achievement as a participant in motorsport. A few years ago, the category was changed to include outstanding performance either as a participant or for writing about motorsport.

Emcee and Guild chairman-elect Guy Loveridge noted that McDonough was recognized in 2012 for significant contributions in both areas.

“Ed has written a book about Mirage this year,” noted Loveridge, “and produced several outstanding articles for Vintage Racecar as its European Editor, as well as for a number of websites. In competition he came 2nd in the Historic Kart Championship, and raced and hillclimbed a Streamliner W196 recreation at Shelsley Walsh, Silverstone, Cholmondeley and the Pentillie Hillclimb.”
