‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett, the undisputed king of sideways, has done it again. This time, he’s taken a McLaren P1 and transformed it into a tire-shredding, flame-spitting drift monster dubbed “MadMac” that became a showstopper at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
MadMac is a hybrid of sorts, combining parts from a P1, a 650S, and a Mazda, resulting in a unique creation that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible. The heart of Mad Mac is a custom-built, triple-rotor rotary engine that delivers around 1,000 horsepower at the wheels.
Top Gear’s Ollie Kew recently visited the Lanzante workshop to have a chat with Mad Mike and Dean Lanzante on how they were able to make this dream build a reality.
