Luxury from Beijing

With today’s opening of the Beijing International Automotive Exposition we have a bunch of new luxury-driven supercars . The first of these is an immaculately detailed Mercedes-Benz Concept Shooting Break. It continues a tradition of shooting brakes we have been assembling on Supercars.net for sometime.

BMW are also jumping on the luxury coupe bandwagon with their Concept Gran Coupe, a sleek black 4-door that was revealed during a new design night. Not missing out, Audi are taking the opportunity to launch the A8 L in top specification with a 500 bhp W12. These, along with updates for both the Volkswagen Phaeton and Maybach line are competing for an increasing market of Chinese sophistication.

Both Lamborghini and Ferrari are better represented in Beijing than they were at most American events so far this year. This show marks the international debut of the 599 GTO and Lamborghini has a new (wait for it) Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce China Limited Edition. Despite the elaborate name, it’s not much more than a new stripe that symbolizes ”the strength of an erupting volcano”.
