The McLaren Senna represents the pinnacle of McLaren performance. It combines the three principal matters of a high performance vehicle – aerodynamics, chassis and power – in an unrivaled manner. As a purpose-built track car, it still manages to be road-legal; but don’t expect to have a chance encounter with it at any race tracks or on the street.
The car pays tribute to a legend of the past – not so much to a car, as much as it is to a driver; none other than the late F1 driver Ayrton Senna. The Brazilian’s namesake is shared with the car as a salute to his tenure as a McLaren Formula One driver. Though he is not with us anymore, one would be confident stating in his place that this is an automobile that Mr. Senna would be proud to have named after him.
Due to its spartan interior and physically demanding nature, the car precludes mostly any sense of ‘daily use’ and will require an experienced and capable driver behind the wheel to push the car over seven-tenths on a road course. The car is also a bit of a unicorn with all 500 units having been spoken for.
This McLaren Senna we found listed on Bring A Trailer is #434 of just 500 examples ever made. It features a carbon-fiber monocoque body finished in Victory Grey and is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle. Features include front and rear parking sensors, a back-up camera, carbon-ceramic brakes, staggered-diameter center-lock wheels, McLaren Orange aeroblades, Gorilla Glass door panels, a glass upper rear bulkhead, black Alcantara upholstery, and a Bowers & Wilkins seven-speaker audio system.
McLaren Automotive’s team created the Senna utilizing their MonoCage III carbon-fiber monocoque platform. This specific model boasts a sleek Victory Grey finish accentuated by McLaren Orange aeroblades. It is also equipped with practical features like front and rear parking sensors, a back-up camera, and Gorilla Glass door inserts.
In addition, the car features Formula One-inspired elements such as a roof scoop, front and side air intakes, and rear air louvers. The Senna’s double-element rear diffuser and electronically adjustable rear wing not only enhance the car’s aerodynamics but also function as an airbrake.
Inside, you’ll find black Alcantara-trimmed carbon-fiber bucket seats. The interior is further equipped with matte carbon-fiber trim and sill panels, dual-zone climate control, a Bowers & Wilkins seven-speaker audio system, McLaren-branded floor mats, and a portrait-oriented infotainment system with Bluetooth, satellite radio connectivity, and navigation.
The steering wheel, also wrapped in black Alcantara with carbon-fiber accents, boasts paddle shifters and a customizable digital display that can be folded down to reveal a simplified digital tachometer, gear indicator, and speedometer. This 2019 McLaren Senna has a mere 787 miles on its digital odometer.
Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine which is a modified version of the one seen in the 720S. The factory-rated power output is an impressive 789 horsepower at 7,250 rpm and 590 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm. The power is directed to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch SSG automatic transaxle.
The McLaren Senna is an awe-inspiring supercar engineered for the track, delivering breathtaking performance and unmatched cornering capabilities, all while meeting road-legal requirements. This particular Senna, finished in Victory Grey, boasts a striking appearance further accentuated by a range of coveted factory options. With minimal mileage, this Senna remains in impeccable condition and would make an excellent addition to any collection of high-performance vehicles.
