Lotus is pushing the limits of what’s possible on the track with the Evija X, a one-off prototype electric vehicle (EV) designed specifically for achieving a record lap time around Nürburgring, also known as the Green Hell, a racetrack notorious for its difficulty.
The Evija X boasts over 2,000 horsepower and 4,500 kg of downforce. While based on the Evija road car, it features significant modifications to handle the extreme demands of the Nürburgring. These include a heavily reworked cooling system, competition tires, and carbon-ceramic brakes.
During the run, the Evija X achieved a lap time of 6 minutes and 24.047 seconds, making it the third-fastest car to ever lap the Nürburgring and the only car in the top three to use the fundamental chassis and powertrain of its road-legal sibling.
