A New Trademark Could Mean a New Name
We’ve already reported on the new and upcoming Lotus electric hypercar. According to the company, it will be a revolutionary vehicle unlike any other. Up until now, nobody knew what Lotus would name the car. It seems that a trademark has been filed for the name Evija, according to Motor Authority. That could mean the new EV could get that name.
The Evija name sounds a little different than the other names that Lotus has for its cars, but it sticks with the E-word naming convention the car company has going right now. We’re not sure how we feel about the Evija name just yet. The car had the Type 130 as its codename for a while and the Evija name will take a little while for it to sink in.
It would make sense for the car, though. Previous Lotus vehicles have had an internal designation and a customer-facing name. This car should be no different.
Little is actually known about the hypercar. Lotus has not let much information slip out. What we do know is that the company will build 130 examples and the cars will come with a seven-figure price tag. Deliveries of cars will happen sometime in 2020. This EV hypercar is expected to bring Lotus back to prominence and help it compete with Porsche and Ferrari. It will debut in July of this year.
