Limited-Edition McLarens: Senna and Senna GTR Hit the Auction Block

These two could fetch over $2 million at auction

Named in homage to the legendary Ayrton Senna, the Senna is a track-focused hypercar that continues the brand’s legacy. Unlike any road car, the Senna is designed closer to a modern GTE or LM-GTE race car. It prioritizes performance and driver control, delivering immense power from its 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which produces 789 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. This engine, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and an advanced titanium exhaust system, propels the Senna to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 208 mph.

McLaren also unveiled a more track-focused version of the Senna called the Senna GTR.  It shares the same engine as the standard Senna but with enhanced power, now producing 814 bhp and 590 lb-ft of torque, allowing for even faster acceleration. Significant aerodynamic improvements, such as a reprofiled front splitter and a larger rear wing, enhance its downforce to over 1,000 kg at high speeds. The GTR also features lightweight forged wheels and a fixed suspension optimized for track use, improving grip in corners.

RM Sotheby’s will auction two low-mileage examples of the Senna and Senna GTR at their Arizona 2025 auction on January 24.

2019 McLaren Senna

This McLaren Senna, the 64th of just 500 produced, was initially delivered through McLaren Beverly Hills in California. Its striking exterior is finished in Mira Orange, complemented by Burton Blue accents, and its interior features Carbon Black Alcantara upholstery.

The car comes equipped with more than $50,000 worth of McLaren Special Operations (MSO) upgrades, including Gorilla Glass doors, custom headrests and sill panels, a premium Bowers & Wilkins seven-speaker audio system, and over $22,000 in Burton Blue accents on components like the brake calipers, wheel centers, active aero elements, and gas door struts.

The Senna’s aesthetic is further elevated by ultra-lightweight nine-spoke wheels in Dark Stealth, touring-sized seats, a Dark Stealth exhaust heatshield, and parking sensors paired with a rear-facing camera. These extensive customizations brought its original price tag to an impressive $1,011,742.

2020 McLaren Senna GTR

This exceptional Senna GTR, the 73rd of only 75 units produced, features a breathtaking livery inspired by Ayrton Senna’s iconic racing helmet. Its build sheet reveals a base price of $1.78 million, bolstered by nearly $75,000 in bespoke MSO upgrades.

Its Solar Yellow paint is accented by gradient stripes shifting from green to dark blue, a motif carried throughout the car with details like blue brake calipers, green active aero blades, and yellow interior door struts, which pay tribute to the Brazilian Formula One legend.

Notably, a rare Senna GTR LM engine is allocated, believed to be the only one available outside the original five cars. This upgraded engine, with enhanced components such as polished and ported heads, composite valve-spring retainers, and revised exhaust rails, delivers 833 bhp and a raised redline of 9,000 rpm.

Both cars have incredibly low mileage. The 2019 McLaren Senna has only covered less than 600 miles since new and is expected to fetch up to $1.2 million. The 2020 McLaren Senna GTR also has low mileage, with just 541 miles displayed on the odometer, and could fetch a hammer price of $1.3 million.
