Limited Edition 2015 McLaren P1 GTR Up for Auction

Number 23 of just 58 ever built

RM Sotheby’s is set to auction a rare 2015 McLaren P1 GTR in Miami in 2025, with an estimated price range of $1.6 million to $1.8 million. This track-focused hypercar, number 23 of just 58 ever built, is finished in striking Burton Blue with a contrasting white stripe and has only 5,139 kilometers (3,193 miles) on the odometer.

McLaren introduced the P1 GTR at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the McLaren F1 GTR’s victory at Le Mans. Available exclusively to existing P1 owners, the GTR was designed purely for track use, following a similar philosophy to Ferrari’s FXX program. Owners had access to McLaren’s engineers, simulators, and driver fitness programs to maximize their experience.

Performance enhancements over the standard P1 were significant. Thanks to a high-flow titanium and Inconel exhaust system, the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 hybrid powertrain was upgraded to produce 986 horsepower—an 83-horsepower increase. The P1 GTR is seven seconds quicker than the road-going P1 around the Losail International Circuit.

Weight savings played a crucial role in its performance. The P1 GTR ditched the road car’s adaptive suspension in favor of a fixed racing setup, reducing mass while improving handling. Lightweight wheels with slick Pirelli tires enhanced grip, and a full-width rear wing increased downforce by 10%. Even the wing mirrors were repositioned to optimize aerodynamics and visibility.

Inside, the P1 GTR features a single fixed carbon fiber seat with a six-point harness, a Formula 1-derived steering wheel, and essential track-ready equipment like a car-to-pits radio, fire suppression system, and air jacks. These refinements collectively shaved over 110 pounds from the road-going P1, making the GTR an even more formidable track weapon.

This particular example, offered by its original owner, remains in excellent condition and comes with its original sales invoice. Given its extreme rarity, high-performance pedigree, and exclusivity, the McLaren P1 GTR is one of the most thrilling supercars of the 21st century—an irresistible opportunity for collectors and track enthusiasts alike.
