More Downforce Than a GT3 Racecar
Lamborghini’s SCV12 is only for the racetrack, and what a track car it is. The vehicle will be one of the most extreme Lamborghini cars ever to grace the racetrack and that’s certainly saying something.
The Italian supercar manufacturer has endowed the SCV12 track car with the most powerful V12 naturally aspirated engine the automaker has, according to Carscoops. The engine will produce 830 hp, and it will use “aerodynamic supercharging at high speed.”
It’s not just the engine that’s impressive. The vehicle will also have a sequential six-speed transmission, and that transmission will be a structural element of the chassis. The rest of the chassis is completely made of carbon fiber. It has a pushrod rear suspension and that suspension is mounted directly to the transmission. It also utilizes magnesium alloy wheels and Pirelli tires.
The most impressive part of the car overall is the aerodynamics. According to Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse, the car produces more downforce than a GT3 racing car. The entire body of the car is optimized for aerodynamic performance, and there’s a monster rear wing on the back.
It’s unclear at this time how many of these cars Lamborghini will make or how much they will cost, but a select few people will have one of the fastest and most impressive cars on the planet. You can check out the video below to see the car in action.
