The Historic Racing Drivers Club is anticipating a bumper season in 2014, as it has already received a record number of entries for its first event at Silverstone in early April.

Julius Thurgood, Founder and Race Director of the HRDC, commented: “The HRDC enjoyed a fully-subscribed race season in 2013 and it looks as though our ethos of returning to ‘Old School Racing’ is rapidly winning favor with many competitors in the historic racing arena.

“Our policy is to keep costs down in terms of entry fees, but to give our competitors maximum value for money on raceday. We pride ourselves on looking after the small details that all add up to make a great difference in the enjoyment of a race event. There is no lavish hospitality offered with the HRDC package, but the enthusiasm and camaraderie that is evident at our race meetings signifies that we are hitting the sweet spot in terms of competitor satisfaction—2014 is shaping up to be another cracking season for the HRDC.”

Indicative of the support the HRDC currently enjoys, its track day at Goodwood on March 3 sold out in just one day! The 46 pre-’60 historic touring cars were in attendance, and despite periods of inclement weather the pit lane was filled throughout the day, with no fewer than 15 marques, represented by 23 different models.

While all cars will be contesting the HRDC “Touring Greats” Series, many drivers will also be hoping for selection to the two-part St Mary’s Trophy race at the Goodwood Revival meeting in September. For further information please visit www.hrdc.eu
