Lime Rock Historic Grand Prix (2012) – All Set

For the first time, Lime Rock Park’s annual Labor Day weekend vintage racing event will feature the cars of Historic Grand Prix (HGP), a vintage racing organization that showcases the machinery from F1’s spectacular 3-liter era, 1966 through 1983. They will race both Saturday and Monday as part of Lime Rock Park Historic Festival 30, which runs from Friday, Aug. 31 through Monday, Sept. 3.

The Festival’s honored guest this year will be Sir Stirling Moss, one of F1 history’s biggest stars, which HGP organizer James King says, “should give our drivers an extra-special incentive to put on their best show!”

Lime Rock’s Historic Festival has been the East Coast’s premier vintage racecar event since 1983, and features the companion Sunday in the Park Concours (Sept. 2), where a selection of cars Moss drove to his more famous wins will be on display. More than 300 vintage racecars are expected to fill the paddock on the weekend, with racing on the track from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Monday.
