Delahaye, for those who recognize the name, conjures up a mixed vision of large and long French Grand Prix, sports and touring cars of the late 1930s and a variety of extraordinary coach-built luxury machines constructed in the post-war decade of the late 1940s through the middle of the 1950s.

When we recently took three Delahayes to the British Classic Motor Show in November, I was struck by the number of people who came along and said, “Where have these Delahayes been hiding?” I was equally impressed by the numbers of those who had never heard of the French company…but nevertheless thought these were beautiful machines.
