Automotive Art – Wally Thomason’s “Gilles Villeneuve”

Gilles Villeneuve Artwork

Wally Thomason pays tribute to the fallen Canadian star.

Enzo Ferrari referred to him as the “Prince of Destruction”, and was delighted. Keke Rosberg, no cream puff himself, referred to him as, “the hardest bastard I ever knew.” Niki Lauda said he was, “a perfect racing driver with the best talent of all of us. He didn’t race for points, but to win races.” Jacques Lafitte, shaking his head: “He’s different from the rest of us – on a separate level. No human being can do a miracle, you know, but Gilles made you wonder.”
