Mark Webber driving 718 Cayman GTS 4.0

German Autonotizen Magazine Review Of The 2020 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS

It’s no secret that we here at Supercars.net love Porsche. They make sports cars and supercars that actually work in the real world.

Sure, you can drive your Ferrari 812 Superfast around on the streets, but come across a speed bump? You’ll be gritting your teeth inching over it, while a Porsche 911 will simply ride over it without giving you too much of a shock up your back.

So when Porsche threw a review weekend for the new 2020 718 Cayman GTS 4.0, a German magazine of course showed up. But, they didn’t come alone…

While the first 8 minutes are pure German expressions about the mechanical feel, the engine, the power, and all that about the GTS 4.0, it’s afterwards that things get interesting.

You see, Autonotizen decided that hey, if they’re going to have a clear, Formula 1 grade race track available to bomb around on… why not bring in a former Formula 1 driver?

Mark Webber, ever since his departure from Formula 1 in 2013, has been with Porsche. First, he was a Porsche World Endurance Driver, winning the FIA WEC competition in 2015 with Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley driving the now legendary 919 Hybrid.

Now, he serves as a Porsche Ambassador, driving their new models to the limit in demonstrations. He also does a variety of hotlap rides, media appearances, and, like in this video, review appearances.

From 8 minutes on, watch as someone who really knows how to wring the most out of a 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 does just that. It’s glorious.
