Formula Junior Returns to Bahamas

As the organizers of the Bahamas Speed Week Revival work toward their ultimate aim of bringing full-blown racing back to Nassau, two races have been added to the 2013 program, set for December 4-8. The honor of being the first to race there in nearly 50 years (and precisely 50 years on from their last race there) will go to Formula Juniors, and the little single-seaters will be joined by classic Minis.

“The Bahamian Government is working with us to re-profile, widen and generally improve our beachfront circuit,” said Chairman and Event Director David McLaughlin, “which will enable us to run two race groups this year. While we intend to keep the grids small and manageable, this is another significant step in the ongoing development of our event, and one that we hope will be much enjoyed by drivers and spectators alike.

“We hope the combination of unique location and an opportunity to feature in the record books, not to mention a week of activities and top notch hospitality, will fire the imagination of Formula Junior and Mini owners,” McLaughlin continued. “However, in case they need a little more encouragement, we’re offering a very healthy £1,500 discount for entries placed before July 1.”

The core elements that have established this event on the global event calendar remain, mixing high-speed road driving, a prestigious Concours, unrivalled hospitality and the opportunity to relax in both unique and exclusive locations with the chance to go against the clock—and now race if desired. Speed Week 2013 is not just a driver’s event, having been designed to include partners at every stage in pursuit of a week of high octane fun in the sun.
