It’s Close, Very Close
There’s a lot to love about the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. It’s the most muscular of all of Ford’s vehicles, but it’s not just a fast in a straight line. The car can make its way around a racetrack really quickly. Quicker than you might think. Quicker than a Porsche 911 GT3 RS? Not quite.
In a recent video posted to the ISSIMI Official YouTube channel, Jason Cammisa puts the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 up against a few of the current fastest vehicles. The GT500 beats the Dodge Challenger Hellcat in the quarter-mile and loses to a Ferrari 812 Superfast in the same race.
When Cammisa puts the GT500 on the track with the help of professional driver Randy Probst, it comes darn close to besting the Porsche 911 GT3 RS around the Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. The GT500 manages to only be two-tenths of a second slower than the Porsche. That’s very close. Surprisingly close. The vehicle performs far better than we thought it would when it is put up against the GT3 RS.
