Featuring a hybrid petrol/electric powertrain derived from Formula 1 technology, bringing this innovation to a series production road car proved more time-consuming than anticipated by Mercedes.
As a gesture of appreciation for their customers’ patience, Mercedes offered the opportunity to purchase a special Project One variant of the Black Series exclusively to those who had pre-ordered the hypercar; for those who hadn’t, the Black Series spin-offs remained out of reach.
