Porsche rarely enters the supercar scene, but when they do, they redefine it. The 911 Carrera RS ruled the racetracks of the 1970s, the 959 revolutionized technology in the 1980s, and the Carrera GT of the early 2000s stunned with its Formula 1-inspired V10 engine.
After a brief hiatus, Porsche returned with the 918 Spyder, unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Designed as a street-legal version of the RS Spyder Le Mans Prototype, it clocked an astonishing 6:57 Nürburgring lap time, proving it was a true hypercar.
To stay ahead of modern supercar standards, Porsche combined a 4.6L naturally aspirated V8 with a hybrid system, boosting total output to 887 hp. This allowed the 918 Spyder to achieve 0-60 mph in just 2.2 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating production car. A four-wheel drive system and rear-axle steering provided superior handling, while regenerative braking improved efficiency.
This 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach, currently available through RM Sotheby’s, presents a rare opportunity to own a near-new example of Porsche’s groundbreaking hybrid hypercar. With only 475 km on the odometer and single ownership since new, it is one of the most desirable 918s to hit the market in recent memory.
Delivered new to France in April 2015, this Weissach Package-equipped 918 was customized with unique specifications. The original owner opted against the magnesium wheels, instead selecting standard wheels. It features PTS Light Green paintwork paired with a black leather interior.
Special interior details include acid green piping on the doors but black piping on the dashboard, chosen to reduce reflections. The top of the dashboard is finished in matte carbon fiber, complementing the carbon fiber door trim. Additional factory options include a cabin-mounted fire extinguisher, an electronically adjustable passenger seat, and a Burmester high-end audio system.
