One of Approximately Five
The DeTomaso Pantera has a cult following among supercar owners and collectors. The 1989 GT5-S version of the car is a rarity. there were only five of the cars built, according to the seller. The one you see here is currently for sale on Bring A Trailer.
It was originally sold at Sports Cars GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany. From there it went to Italy with its second owner and ended up in England in 2016. It was imported to the U.S. in 2017.
The car underwent a refurbishment at Atuocostruzioni S.D. in Turin Italy in 2011. This included a new Rosso Corsa paint job over a Pelle Nero leather interior. Power comes from a replacement Ford 351ci Cleveland V8 that’s connected to a five-speed gearbox. The car features black split numbers, 15-inch Campagnolo wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, coilover suspension, air conditioning, power windows, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette stereo.
The car is offered on consignment in California with a letter of authenticity from RS Corse Srl, its owners manual, tool kit, sales brochure from the period, and maintenance record and invoices for the refurbishment, and a Carfax report. It also has a clean Michigan title.
At the time of this writing, the bidding is up to $130,000. The auction will end in nine days. That means you have plenty of time to round up some money for this beautiful gem of a supercar.
